Our Sweet Peas
We take applications for children who are 3 years old by September 1st. If spaces are available, consideration will be given to children who turn 3 years old by December 1st.
All students must be toilet independent. We require full immunization.
Through a play based approach, our curriculum covers language arts, math, science, social studies, art, music, drama, and physical development. Though we expose children to academic concepts through play (examples: an alphabet puzzle, number bingo, making playdough letters, counting and sorting small pieces) we are not an academically focused preschool. Our main priority is social development and kindergarten readiness skills. Your child will learn to work in a group, take direction from teachers, operate successfully in a classroom environment and learn that school is a fun place to explore, learn and make friends.
Sweet Peas Nursery School teachers use a thematic approach to expose children to a variety of concepts. We study themes like ocean, insects, farm animals, fairy tales, colors, shapes, seasonal changes, plants and birds. We are careful to plan experiences that meet each child's individual learning style.
We believe that hands on, play based activities are the best way to engage children in learning. Children need to explore, manipulate their environment, get messy, move, observe, touch, sing, taste, pretend, and create. We plan activities that are safe, age appropriate, interesting and meaningful to young children.
